When it comes to texting, mine is a love/hate relationship.
On the hate side, a biggie for me, is the fact that texting removes the “face-to-face” element from our conversations. In a face-to-face, we have the added benefit of being able to read voice inflection and body language. Not so in a text! Another thing I’m not so fond of about texting is that it carries an undeniable expectation – that you will see it immediately upon its arrival – and an unmistakable tension – that something is wrong because you didn’t answer immediately. I also must confess that as a former language arts teacher, I lay some blame on texting for what is happening to our conventions of grammar and writing.
But then there’s the love side. I can’t totally hate texting because it’s such a helpful tool when it comes to staying in touch with others.
Non-intrusive. Texting allows me to check in on family members and friends to let them know I am thinking about them even while they are at work. Unlike a phone call that must be answered in the moment, a text can be seen and replied to at a more convenient time.
Quick. Just a few short words or a simple gif can convey a meaningful message.
Convenient. My phone may not always be in my pocket or right by my side, but it’s never very far away.
Another thing about texting that falls on the “love” side, is that it helps my husband and me stay connected when we’re apart. It’s become a valuable tool for helping to keep our marriage strong.
Truly, a couple of seconds is all it takes for me to let my husband know that he is on my mind, and I don’t have to be concerned about interrupting a meeting or other pressing work. Conversely, I don’t mind sharing with you how quickly I reach for my phone when I hear that little email tone while he is away. Anxiously I look, to see if it’s from him!
Whether you want to divulge your thoughts, declare your love, or express your gratitude to your spouse, texting is one non-intrusive, quick, and convenient way to do it.
Consider these 100 texts that make your spouse’s day as you begin to incorporate this valuable tool into your relationship.

Hey there beautiful/handsome.

You make my heart sing!
You rock my world.
You were lookin’ good this morning.

Miss your face.
Stop making me think about you. I can’t get anything done.
Let’s go do something we’ve never done before. How about tonight?
Your text messages bring a stupid smile to my face!
In a sea of people, my eyes will always search for you.
You are my greatest adventure.
Happiness is being married to your best friend.
Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite.
I pledge to still grab your butt even when you’re old and wrinkly.
Grow old with me.
Roses are red. Violets are blue. I’m in love. With no one but YOU!
You’re the best (dishwasher-unloading, spider-killing, roast-making) husband/wife there is!
You put the smile on my face, the sparkle in my eyes, and the beat in my heart.
Still laughing about what you said last night….
Remember how we kissed (insert time and place)? I kind of want to do that now.
Remember that time when we __________________?
You are my superhero.
I’m sorry. You were right.
Sorry you are having a rough day.
Sorry I was weird last night. Can we start over?
Last night was AMAZING!
Let’s have some fun tonight. Wink, wink!
Let’s make tonight all about you.
I’ll be waiting at the door when you get home!
You + me tonight??
You earned a massage when you get home tonight.
What do you think about putting the kids to bed early tonight?
Texting is a great way to stay in touch while you are apart. One brief message can reveal your deepest thoughts and stir the affections of your spouse.
Keep your connection strong by sending thoughtful and romantic texts. Let them know you are thinking of them, express your appreciation, bring up a fun memory, or share an inside joke.
It’s a little thing that can have a huge impact on your relationship.
