The Manna, the Messiah, and the Promise

Rabbi K.A. Schneider: Shalom, beloved. In the Gospel of John chapter 7, we see that Yeshua and his disciples were in the midst of their ministry during what's called the Feast of Booths. In Hebrew it's called Sukkot, and it's also referred to as the Feast of Tabernacles. It's all the same thing. And there are several different concepts that we can apply to our life from understanding what this holy appointed day and season of the Lord is all about. Now, the Feast of Sukkot is a feast of Thanksgiving. It's a time where the children of Israel lived in temporary booths, and they remember how when they were in the wilderness, God, and I want you to get this, supernaturally provided for their every need. You think about their plight in the wilderness and maybe relate it to something that's going on in your life. Maybe you have a need for something that's important, and you don't know where it's going to come from. That's how Israel was when they were in the wilderness. They had they had a need to eat, but there was no food. What happened? The Lord supernaturally sent the quail by day and manna supernaturally on the ground every morning for 40 years. Supernatural provision. So the Feast of Booths, the Feast of Sukkot reminds us how God truly is the abundant source and provider of every legitimate need that his children have. The Feast of Sukkot or Tabernacles or Booths was also a time of ingathering. It was a harvest season where Israel was gathering in the harvest for the year and then thanking the Lord for it. It's interesting that we read in in the Gospel of John that on the last day of this feast, it's called in Hebrew Hoshana Rabah. It's a time where the priest would pour out water on the altar at the Temple, and everyone would praise the Lord because symbolically it represented the latter rains that the Lord was going to cause to fall upon the earth in the winter so that Israel would have a great harvest in the spring. And it also had to do with the coming of Messiah, because they associated the the the water as with the latter rain, when Messiah comes the water of the Lord, the Spirit of the Lord will be poured out upon the earth. So the Feast of Tabernacles is a really full conceptual time to connect with God when we understand essentially what it was all about. And all these feasts, beloved, I want you to hear this. They weren't just for Jewish people. God never said these are the Jewish holidays. Rather what the Lord said he said, "These are my appointed days. These are holy days to the Lord." And so as believers and followers of Yeshua, whether you're a Jew or a Gentile, we should be studying these holy days and try to understand how it has relevance for us today in our lives. Now, as I close today, I just want to put this out there for you. Everything that we're doing to minister to you, to feed you, whether it's through YouTube, television, radio, on the ground, wherever we go, everything that we do, beloved, it all demands resources. We can't just do it. We need people that love this ministry that are being fed by this ministry to support it. So, I say that because this time of year, the Feast of of Tabernacles was a time of year where Israel came to Jerusalem and they presented an offering to the Lord of Thanksgiving. So, I just want to humbly ask you, if God is really touching you in his love through this ministry, would you present an offering to the Lord through them so we can continue to do what we do and be a blessing to you and other people?
