Still I Rise

Poem: Still I Rise - by Maya Angelou and Read by me.

Be A Man - A Poem

Be a man
That's the hardest challenge since no one gave you the plan
"When you fall down, get back up and take a stand"
and you'll be standing alone if no one comes and gives you a hand
cause some people are oblivious to the fact that you could use some help
and people are just unfair
they will take you out to the middle of the ocean
and leave you there
but you still have to be a man
Even though no man preceded you
can you still be responsible
to the people who will secede you?
To be a boy you won't want to
but to be a man, you will need to
see being a man is about doing what you have to
It's about sacrificing for success, for your seeds and for your bu
Yes, your woman is the best, put her on a pedestal
give her the respect you give your moms
look at all she does for you
Be a man
so your daughter could know what a real man is and
your son can grow up to be a man too.
Be a man!

Best Man With Autism Has Everyone Crying With Heartfelt Wedding Speech For Brother

Grab the tissues, because you’ll need them as you watch this best man with autism deliver his heartfelt wedding speech for his big brother! We know that autism is diagnosed more often today than in previous years. Fortunately, programs like “The Good Doctor” feature characters who have autism, and it’s helping us all gain a greater understanding. In this video, we get a glimpse of what it is like for someone with autism to speak in front of and interact with others. But, what we see even more clearly is the abundant love between these two brothers! Sam Waldron, “the best man to the best brother,” holds the microphone with one hand and his written speech in the other as he introduces himself to a celebratory crowd. Sam spends no time hemming and hawing around. He gets right to the heart of the matter. Big brother Jonah is his hero and his best friend, and 23-year-old Sam is privileged to stand up for Jonah. While Sam is honored to speak, he admits that he is also “terrified.” His good-natured admission causes guests to laugh aloud and Jonah to smile knowingly; he gets it. Sam goes on to say that Jonah and his bride Madison are the only two people for whom he’s willing to speak in public. Sam compares their family to a “good fudge—mostly sweet, but with a lot of nuts”— and then jokes that Maddy may be crazy for sticking around. After congratulating Maddy on marrying the second most handsome Waldron brother, Sam turns his attention to 27-year-old Jonah. Sam shares what it is that makes Jonah so very special to him. Jonah has been Sam’s encourager, his protector, and his daily reminder that Sam’s differences are indeed his strengths. Patient, kind, accepting, friendly, and smart. That’s how Sam describes Jonah, but he does remind him of the fact that he wasn’t the brother who was voted Homecoming King or performed a rap in front of the whole student body! Jonah, by now, has had to use that tissue Madison handed him a few moments earlier. The bride and groom, both with shiny eyes, are beaming. Though Sam shares how proud he is of them, we know that the feeling is utterly mutual. Sam closes his talk with an Irish toast that speaks of fun and laughter. And, the 170 guests in the room in Salida, Iowa give Sam a standing ovation! Happy, happy day! “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,” Galatians 5:22

4-Year-Old Rings The Bell After Beating Cancer

What an incredible moment of victory to witness. This video captures a landmark moment as a 4-year-old little girl rings the bell after beating cancer. You’ll smile and cheer right along with the doctors, nurses, staff, and family as this little girl steps up to ring the “end of treatment” bell. As family, staff, and friends gather, a nurse helps a little girl stand up on a stool in order to properly reach the bell. The nurse then instructs this four-year-old what to say by repeating the words, line by line inscribed on the wall. The words on the wall read: “Ring this bell three times well its toll to clearly say my treatment is done this course is run and I am on my way!” The moment the brave little girl rang the bell, the nurses and hospital staff lined up in the corridor to cheer her on. Her mother was able to capture the precious moment on camera. In the four years of her short life, this precious little girl has gone through more than what most adults have to go through and deal with in a lifetime. And the best part is she will have an incredible story of faith, strength, and endurance as God held her through her cancer treatments. I can only hope this video inspires others who are enduring the long, hard, and often grueling journey of fighting cancer. May the ringing of the bell inspire others in their fight! The end of treatment bells have been placed in hospitals so that children, as well as adults, can celebrate their achievement of being able to overcome and complete their treatment. The tradition began at MD Anderson in 1996 after a U.S. Navy admiral had undergone radiation therapy for cancer. He followed the navy tradition of ringing a bell to signify, “when a job was done.” He brought a bell to his last treatment, rang it several times, and left it as a donation. It was mounted on a wall plaque with the same inscription that every bell now has in cancer treatment centers. May we all take a moment to cheer on this little girl for a job well done and may we pray that God continues to hold her in his mighty hands. “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. And the victory that has overcome the world is this—our faith.” 1 John 5:4

21-Year-Old's Ukulele Audition On The Voice Showcases Unique Style

Check out this great audition on The Voice where a 21-year-old singer showcases her unique style by playing the ukulele and performing Mike Posner’s ‘Please Don’t Go.’ “Let's run away, from these lies, back to yesterday, safe tonight I feel the sun creepin' up like tick tock, I'll try to keep you in my head, but if not We'll just keep running from tomorrow with our lips locked Yeah, you've got me begging, begging, baby please don't go If I wake up tomorrow, will you still be here, I don't know, if you feel the way I do If you leave I'm going to find you, baby please don't go, go, go, go” The singer in this video is Kaitlyn Velez, and she is from Long Island, New York. She has such a great voice filled with interesting and fun vibrato. It is the uniqueness of her voice that makes John Legend and Blake Shelton turn their chairs around right away. Ariana Grande even says to her that she regrets not turning her chair around for Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn shares with the coaches that she has been playing the ukulele since she was 14 years old, and that was around the same time that she started writing her own songs. As the coaches compliment Kaitlyn on the uniqueness of her voice, she contemplates who to choose for her coach. And she ends up going with Team Blake! “Two strategic and talented artists working together,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “I’m looking forward to seeing what’s gonna come next.” “She really has a great voice,” writes another person online. “Her pitch is really great, and her tone really cuts through. Her vibrato is super cool, and she started showing more range later.” What a talented young woman! We can’t wait to see what she’ll do next on The Voice!

The Voice All-Star Contestant Brings Chills With 'Shallow' Blind Audition

Check out this video of a contestant on The Voice All Stars France who beautifully sings ‘Shallow’ for his blind audition. “Tell me somethin', girl. Are you happy in this modern world? Or do you need more? Is there somethin' else you're searchin' for? I'm fallin' on all the good times I find myself longin' for change And in the bad times, I fear myself, I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in I'll never meet the ground, crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us We're far from the shallow now” The song ‘Shallow’ was originally sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and was released in 2018. The song was part of the movie A Star Is Born. The singer in this video on The Voice All Stars France is Terence James, and he does an incredible job singing ‘Shallow’ for his audition. Although he only gets two judges to turn their chairs around, the two that pushed their buttons were very impressed with Terence and his singing ability. “Such a beautiful voice,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “This voice was gentle and controlled as the song required.” You can really feel the energy and passion in Terence’s voice as he sings the popular song. He seems to hit all the notes with ease, which is impressive since ‘Shallow’ is not the easiest song to perform. This guy has got some talent, for sure! And he is a great performer! His musical abilities are sure to take him far. We hope that you enjoyed watching this video of Terence James singing ‘Shallow’ on The Voice All Stars France today! Luke 6:35 “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”

9-Year-Old Clara Mae Sings 'Close To You' By The Carpenters

This music video is absolutely precious. 9-year-old Clara Mae sings “Close to You” by the Carpenters. At the start of this video, we see little Clara Mae with her blonde locks and a flower crown while in a field holding a yellow sunflower. Then, an elderly couple is highlighted with their love for one another. They are holding hands, laughing, and walking downtown. The sweet singer Clara with her pure young voice sings right in front of an incredible mountain range. During the second verse, the couple dances in their living room at home. The sweet couple share a kiss. Clara Mae has a fun, 70’s type vibe with her bell bottom jeans and hippie look. She is very easy to listen to and adorable. At the end of her music video, your heart will melt as she dedicates her song and video to all the elderly people who have had a hard time during the pandemic. Clara Mae is a part of the Rise Up singer children's group. She is very gifted for her age and is sharing her talent with the world. In this video, there is a couple highlighted who love each other deeply after many years of marriage. This reminds us of being committed and staying devoted to those to whom we make promises in life. Whether you are married or not, there are people around us with whom we have commitments within our homes and communities. May this music video remind us of the gift of friendship and family that is close in heart even if not physically together in a pandemic. Jesus knew His friends would miss Him when we were no longer with them physically. We can have comfort in the knowledge of our love and find creative ways to communicate and love one another. “So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.” John 16:22

3 Men From Celtic Thunder Sing Powerful Rendition Of 'Hallelujah'

This is an absolutely mesmerizing performance by some very talented individuals. In this video, 3 men from Celtic Thunder sing a powerful rendition of “Hallelujah.” At the start of this video, a man has a beautiful start to singing “Hallelujah.” Suddenly when the chorus comes, another man joins in singing an amazing harmony. Afterwards, for the second verse, a third young man joins them leading the song. The three men then sing in perfect harmony as they enter the chorus. There is an incredible ensemble of instrumentalists who cannot be overlooked in this performance. There is a string quartet, pianist, and percussionist. There are clips of audience members moved by the song. Each man puts passion and zeal into his performance. The three parts blended together sound as smooth as butter. They are three different voices, but one song. Leonard Cohen wrote “Hallelujah.” The beautiful chorus repeats the same powerful word in its lyrics. Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah The meaning of the word hallelujah according to Dr. Dikkon Ebberhart from Crosswalk is “Praise the Lord.” The three men singing different parts of the song reminds me of the verse in Scripture of the strand of three that is not easily broken. I n any relationship on earth, whether it be friendship, family, or marriage, we need Jesus to be at the center for success. We need Him to be the third strand that holds us together just like there were three men holding together this performance. We are not perfect, but Christ at the center of our lives and relationships will hold us firmly together. “And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” Ephesians 4:12

Cheers Erupt When 6-Year-Old Returns To School After Beating Cancer

Pull out the tissues and get ready for a beautifully moving video. In this clip, cheers erupt when a 6-year-old returns to school after beating cancer. John Oliver is a 6-year-old living in Newbury, Ohio. He finally became cancer free and returned to school in January 2020. At the start of the video, we hear whispers of anticipation and see students of a variety of ages lined up in a hallway. They are all waiting to surprise and celebrate John for his recovery from his battle with cancer. It is absolutely emotional watching this precious young boy walk through a crowd of students cheering for him. I cannot even imagine how he and his family must have felt in this humbling and motivating experience. John walks up to a friend or two and says hi. Then, we see his parents at the end of the tunnel of students and faculty waving at him. The dad has a shirt with #JoStrong on the back of it. John waves at the crowd with a smile on his face. His mom gives him a kiss and a hug and his dad speaks with him and hugs him too. Then, the family poses for a picture together. This community act of celebrating the victory of another is inspiring. This young boy John has gone through more than many of us could imagine. He was victorious and we can celebrate with this student body while watching. As believers, we are called to stand by each other. Believers are all part of the family of God. When our brothers or sisters mourn, we mourn with them, when they are celebrating, we celebrate with them. This school reminds us of the power of community. “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15

Band On A Truck Cheers For Young Boy Playing Basketball

Check out this fun video of a band on a truck that cheers for a young boy when he makes a basket playing basketball. The wholesome moment that was captured in this home’s security camera is one that will bring a smile to your face. A young boy was playing basketball in his driveway with a friend when a truck drives in front of his house. As he was shooting around, the truck, which was filled with people, drove by. But the truck was not just filled with people, it was filled with people with band instruments! A mobile band! What a fun and exciting thing to see driving around your neighborhood! As the young boy throws the basketball up at the hoop, the ball goes in and the truck full of people witness it going through the net. They all erupt in a cheer for the boy! What a fun moment that must have brought that young boy so much joy. After the group lets out a loud cheer, they all start playing their band instruments as a way to celebrate the boy’s basket. And as they are driving away, the mobile band continues to play their fun music. Now that is an exciting moment that that boy will not quickly forget! It reminds us that we should celebrate with others in life and share in their moments of happiness. We can use our actions and words to build people up or tear them down. But wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could always go out of our way to bring joy to those around us? That’s the way that God calls us to love. May we always love others well and love them extravagantly. Galatians 5:14 “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Trio Earns 4-Chair Turn For Crosby, Stills And Nash Blind Audition

Listen to this trio on The Voice Blind Auditions perform Crosby, Stills & Nash's ‘Helplessly Hoping’ and get a 4-chair turn from the judges! “Helplessly hoping her harlequin hovers nearby awaiting a word Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit, he runs, wishing he could fly Only to trip at the sound of goodbye” The group is called Girl Named Tom, and they all sound incredible together! They perform an acoustic cover of ‘Helplessly Hoping’ with just their voices and a guitar. And the harmonies that they sing are so wonderful! The trio are all siblings from Ohio, and the story behind their name is quite cute. The female of the group is named Becca, but she says that when she was a baby, her brothers would call her Thomas. And that’s how the group name Girl Named Tom was born! Right at the start of their audition, Kelly Clarkson turned her chair around immediately. John Legend turned his chair around shortly after her. Later in the song, Blake Shelton turned his chair around, and Ariana Grande pushed the button for her chair right after. They were all stunned by the talent of Girl Named Tom and wanted the group to pick them as their coach! When Kelly sees that all the judges have turned their chairs around, she says “Please pick me!” And Ariana rubs her arms to show that their singing has given her goosebumps. Not only were the judges impressed by Girl Named Tom, but many people online shared their adoration for the talented group. “This is a perfect harmony I've heard in a while. Their vocals are incredible and in sync. I hope they will make it far in the competition,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the audition clip. “This is the best blind audition ever. Period. I would have pushed my button instantly,” writes another person online. “Tightest harmony I have ever heard, and I would like to point something out. Not only is this live and unedited, with insanely tight rhythm and plenty of fluidity at the same time, and perfect harmony as I said, BUT THEY AREN'T USING THE HOUSE BAND! Everything you hear is from those three individuals on stage and no one else. Most contestants cannot say that. Incredible, and they already have a memorable name.” In the end, Girl Named Tom picked Kelly to be their coach. We can’t wait to see where they go in this competition!
