Reba McEntire Almost Stopped Singing After Losing Her Mom

When country music legend Reba McEntire suffered a monumental loss in life, she nearly gave up singing altogether.

Hopefully, everyone has someone they can count on when life gets tough and unbearable. This person is often a shoulder to cry on as they listen and give advice. This same individual is usually a great encourager and an excellent support system, giving others the confidence they need to reach their full potential. For Reba, that person was her mother.

Reba McEntire has enjoyed a career that has spanned decades. She has been in movies, had her own television show, and produced dozens of hit songs throughout the years. But she almost gave up on music entirely. Her mother died in 2020, and as it would anybody, it left her devastated.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Reba revealed during an interview on the Today Show that following the death of her beloved mother, she almost put down the microphone. Reba recalls a conversation while going through items in her parent’s house when she thought she was likely done with music.

“Because I told Suzie, we were, we were cleaning out the house, and I was going through pictures,” Reba said. “And I said, ‘I just don’t think I’m going to do this anymore.’ She said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Sing.’

Reba’s reasoning for contemplating giving up music? She said, “I always did it for momma.”

Luckily for everyone, Reba decided to stay in the music game and is now even one of the coaches on the popular singing program The Voice.

Later in the interview, Jenna mentioned losing her grandparents and how she looks at grief. She views it not necessarily as an unwanted emotion but as a gift. Reba, in response, mentioned that she totally concurred with Jenna’s assessment.

“Absolutely,” Reba said. “It is a total gift. If you had no emotion whatsoever when they left, you missed out on something. I agree with you 100 percent.”

Grandma Uses Hair Dryer Disguised As Radar Gun To Get Drivers To Slow Down

A grandmother in Montana took the law into her hands, finding a unique way to implore drivers going past her residence to ease off the gas pedal a bit.

Disobedience is a sin. The Bible is filled with stories of people who failed to listen to the instructions and words of God. In every single instance, when an individual ignored the Lord’s directives, things got noticeably worse for them. Following and obeying God’s words and instructions is always the right course of action.

Unfortunately, driving faster than the posted speed limit is one area where many people willfully disobey. Hundreds of drivers exceed speed limits daily, most without receiving a ticket or citation. As a clip posted on YouTube shows, one woman, Patti, used her hair dryer to slow down drivers near her house.

In an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Patti explains what led to her sitting on the side of the road in a lawn chair with a drink in one hand and a hair dryer in the other.

“We’re very close to Glacier National Park, so we get a lot of tourists going around on our road,” Patti said. “And they fly by. So, we just thought one day we would, or my son thought he’d put me up on the road and give me a hair dryer and pretend it was a radar gun.”

Patti’s hilarious stunt not only caught the attention of the drivers zooming past her house but also that of law enforcement. Instead of getting upset with her, they showed their appreciation for Patti’s efforts.

“The Montana trooper had tracked me down through social media, found where we lived and came down and surprised me,” Patti said. “I thought I was going to be in trouble. But he said he wanted to make me an honorable trooper and gave me a little hat and a little badge.”

Christian YouTuber Reminds Us To Give 100% To God And Not Just Fit Him In

One young woman shared some wisdom about spending time with and growing into a deeper relationship with the Creator of the universe.

Daily life can be a stressful and chaotic experience. It’s often full of activities to complete and things to mark off to-do lists. With so many obligations during the day, most people prefer to maximize their time. An entire term was created to describe this activity: multitasking.

However, as one Christian YouTuber states, multitasking should never ever describe the time spent alone with Jesus Christ. Instead of typing out emails while driving the kids to soccer practice as the latest audiobook plays in the background, time should be set aside during the day to concentrate solely on Him.

The woman’s piece of advice came during a conversation she recently had with her father.

“And he was saying that you should not be bringing God into your tasks that you’re doing throughout the day, like squeezing him in,” she recalled

While God should be a part of our day, all day, every day, He deserves more than that. She stated that Christians should not simply attempt to squeeze in their daily time with the Lord while in the shower, during the drive to work, or while fulfilling other tasks.

“I do think there’s something to be said, and something very special about intentional quiet time with Him - all focused on Him to where your mind is not split between the tasks that you’re doing and talking to Him,” she said

This challenge to slow down and dedicate a specific amount of time only praying to and concentrating on God might be a difficult ask for many. Most people today feel the rush and desire to get many things done at once. But taking a step back and having moments when Christ is the only focus will draw you closer to the Lord.

Psalm 37:7 “Take your rest in the Lord, waiting quietly for him; do not be angry because of the man who does well in his evil ways, and gives effect to his bad designs.”

Doorbell Camera Captures Postal Worker’s Efforts To Save Dog From Snake Bite

A kindhearted and caring United States Postal Service employee came to the rescue of a dog who had been bitten by a venomous snake, rushing the injured animal to a veterinarian.

Animals are creatures placed on Earth by the same God who created man, the mountains, oceans and the entire universe. As such, because they are part of God’s creation, they deserve love, care, kindness and respect.

One woman, Holle Keene Prigmore, who delivers mail for the USPS in Georgia, was doing her rounds one day in September when she came across a disturbing scene. She discovered Ginger, a beagle she commonly encounters during her route, had been bitten by a copperhead snake, according to People

Ginger’s owners, Kelsey and Aaron Proctor, were at work and not home at the time of the incident. So, Holle took matters into her own hands and got the injured animal some much-needed medical attention.

However, before she took the animal to the vet, Holle swiftly devised a way to let Kelsey and Aaron know about the situation. She typed up a message on her phone about what had happened and what she was doing. She then held it up to the couple’s doorbell camera, making sure it could be seen and read.

Then, in a message posted on Facebook, Kelsey wrote that they were grateful for Holle’s kind and life-saving actions for their beloved pet Ginger.

She added, “Ginger is going to be okay, and I truly believe it’s because of this woman.”

Then, in a follow-post on the social media site, Kelsey posted photos of the injured animal, one showing the dog with her back left leg lifted off the ground.

In the post’s caption, Kelsey mentioned that Ginger is “doing well” and has “been resting, getting lots of love, and under some blankies.”

Holle’s kindness, love and concern for the animal’s well-being helped to save Ginger’s life.

10 Things Christians Should Stop Saying

One man, Jefferson Bethke, has compiled a list of several commonly used phrases and sayings that he believes Christians should refrain from using and gives a variety of reasons why.

Words are powerful, possessing the ability to either build up or destroy someone. Whoever first said, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” was 100 percent incorrect. Anyone can attest to the fact that words do sting. The words and phrases we use do matter, especially as Christians.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Jefferson quickly went through a list of phrases Christians should remove from their conversations. Some phrases suggested for removal may be surprising, while others are obvious and self-explanatory.

1 .“God’s Not Giving You More Than You Can Handle”

Jefferson, as he mentions in the clip, believes this statement is biblically incorrect. Instead, he points out how God would often use overwhelming circumstances, giving people more than they could handle, in order to change their path and turn them toward Him.

2. “Everything Happens for a Reason”

This phrase is normally used when someone is going through a tragic and devastating situation. While Jefferson says this idea and belief may be technically correct, biblically speaking, it does nothing for the individual grieving. That’s basically the last thing someone hurting and mourning wants to hear.

3. “Will All Visitors in the Church Stand/Take 60 Seconds to Greet Your Neighbor”

As Jefferson points out, these phrases are used in large churches during worship services. Those calls to interact with others often create awkward and forced interactions. It’s best to let these interactions happen naturally.

4. “I Covet Your Prayers”

Jefferson states there are much better, more conversational phrases available that get the same point across. “I want your prayers” or “I need your prayers” means the same thing and doesn’t include “an archaic, Old Testament term, that is actually a sin.”

5. “You Must Be Blessed with the Gift of Singleness”

This phrase, as the clip points out, is the last thing someone who is currently single wants to hear. Perhaps that person doesn’t want to be single. Let them figure it out on their own.

6. “I Just Need to Love on Some Kids”

It’s easy to understand why Christians should stop using this phrase or anything like it. It’s honestly hard to believe that anyone would let something like this come out of their mouth. Thinking before you speak, especially in this case, is a great idea.

7. “I’ll Pray About It”

This one, as Jefferson mentions, is normally used as a stand-in when people want to say “no” to something or someone. Instead, believing themselves to be polite, they’ll say, “I’ll pray about it,” and then text a “no” later.

8. “Jesus is My Co-Pilot”

This bumper sticker phrase is weird, awkward and simply wrong, Jefferson mentions. “That might just be borderline heresy,” he states. Jesus, the Savior of the world, is not the one calling the shots in your life? This slogan diminishes Christ’s role to someone on the sideline, a second-in-command role.

9. “God Helps Those Who Help Themselves”

Jefferson states this statement, popular in America, is biblically inaccurate. He points out in Scripture that God continually gave grace to the humble, the downtrodden and the brokenhearted – the people who had no ability to help themselves.

10. “You Just Need to Forgive Yourself”

In the clip, Jefferson correctly points out that people will say this to people struggling with something in their past. But instead of forgiving oneself,” that individual needs to focus on and understand that Christ is the one who forgives. He washes away sin and makes things clean again. “God has the highest authority, not you.”

Ephesians 4:29 “Let no evil talk come out of your mouth, but only what is good for giving necessary teaching, and for the grace to those who give ear.”

Savannah Bananas Throw Batter For A Real Curveball with Trick Play

A group of baseball players performed a trick that left the batter standing at the plate completely stunned and the crowd of spectators looking on cheering in amazement.

Baseball is a fun, beloved and historic game with many time-honored traditions. It’s a game that has been played and watched by millions for decades. People like Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle and Cal Ripken Jr. have become synonymous with the game. Every season, fans eagerly and faithfully cheer on their team, hoping to give that little extra boost to help them bring home a victory.

However, instead of the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies or others, one team is unlike all the rest. The Savannah Bananas play a different, much less conventional type of baseball. They are basically the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, performing tricks and other plays normally not seen on the diamond.

In a clip posted on YouTube, three Savannah Bananas players come together and have a short conference on the pitcher’s mounds. It’s seconds later, and all three have come to an agreement on their next course of action. Instead of one pitcher, they have decided to go with three players on the mound.

When it’s time for the next pitch, the three players all wind up at the same time, using the same motion, but only one actually has a ball in his possession. Then a perfect strike is delivered to the plate, completely freezing the batter.

The batter, caught looking at the third strike, is enthusiastically called out by the umpire. In case the crowd or the batter was confused, the umpire motions, once again, for the strikeout. He even throws in a little dance.

But the short, hilarious clip does not end there. One of the three pitchers runs to home plate where he and the catcher reenact the famous pose from the film “Dirty Dancing.”

Christian Singer Danny Gokey On Why People ‘Should Love’ The USA

Popular Christian music singer and former American Idol contestant Danny Gokey loves America and believes people should love the United States of America.

No place on Earth is perfect. The United States of America is a flawed place founded by flawed individuals. Currently, the USA is filled with imperfect people. God’s word says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But even through its errors and mistakes, the United States of America has always been a symbol of freedom, bravery and truth.

For those reasons and others, Danny Gokey believes people should love the United States of America. He says this even though other voices, he claims, are saying otherwise.

“I have a passion for my country,” Danny said. “I love America, and it is OK to love your country. As a matter of fact, you probably should love your country. Otherwise, the country won’t be very strong if the people don’t love it.”

He states that he’s trying to counter other voices in society that are sending an opposite message, encouraging hate and dislike of the United States of America.

“But I just think there’s so many voices in our culture trying to tell us how to think about our country,” he said. “And I think that that’s demoralizing what is happening to the people of our country.”

Danny, who has put out songs celebrating the United States, says he felt God call him to that project.

“I just decided, I said, ‘I want to write songs that celebrate us,” he said. “Because there’s so many great things that our country has done. There’s, I mean, we have, there’s never been a country like us and probably will never be a country like us after us.”

He mentioned in the interview what he was trying to accomplish with his new music.

“And so, I just wanted to point people to the hope of our country, to the bravery of our country, to the goodness of the land, and I started writing.”

Psalm 33:12 “Blessed in the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.”

Heartfelt Father-Daughter Dance Mirrors Moment 30 Years Prior

One bride’s father-daughter dance was 30 years in the making as the two reenacted a moment they shared decades earlier.

Weddings and all the events surrounding them are fantastic, heartfelt and emotional occasions. They are events filled with laughter, joy and a few tears as well. There are a number of traditions during both the wedding and the following reception that often bring about tears from those in attendance.

One of those moments that typically causes people to shed a tear or two or three is the father-daughter dance. A video posted on TikTok shows how a bride and her father created a special moment by recreating a dance that took place 30 years earlier, according to Sunny Skyz

The short, 1-minute clip shows the bride and her dad strutting their stuff on the dance floor as a video of them 30 years earlier plays right above them. In the video, from decades ago, and at their reception, they dance to “Tale as Old as Time” from the Disney animated classic “Beauty and the Beast.”

The bride and her dad somehow match their moves pretty well with the old video. Sure, the young woman is now standing on the ground, no longer held by her dad, but their moves, turns and spins are still very close to their original dance.

In the old video, the bride, as a child, can even be heard trying to sing along with the song. Several of those in attendance let out a collective laugh at the child’s attempt to sing along with Angela Lansbury.

What a sweet moment between the bride and her dad. It’s one that both will forever cherish and never forget for the rest of their lives.

The clip of the special moment between the bride and her father has been watched more than two million times.

Steve Harvey In Tears After Viral Singer With Big Dreams

A woman, who has gotten attention on social media for her beautiful and powerful voice and has hopes to be on Broadway, appeared on Steve Harvey’s show, where she had the host and comedian in tears.

Life is an experience that is full of hurts, struggles and heartaches. Everyone goes through unpleasant and unbearable experiences. Regardless of the amount of money or fame someone possesses, everyone goes through trials and tribulations.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Steve Harvey brought a gospel singer, Duranice Pace, who has gotten a ton of attention online for singing beautifully and unexpectedly in public places. Steve had the woman on his show to tell her story and possibly help make her Broadway dream a reality.

But then, something wholly unexpected happened during her appearance. Her kind words ended up bringing Steve to tears.

She talked about ingesting rat poison and going through cancer. The doctors told her that she would only live three years. That was nearly 11 years ago. But she said one of the reasons the good Lord kept her alive was so she would be able to meet Steve.

“I’m just glad to be here,” she said. “I can go to heaven now.”

It was that comment that seemed to cause Steve to tear up. He talked about his mother and how she instructed him to help others achieve and accomplish things in life.

He also discussed a personal struggle, something that has bothered him for a while. It was telling the doctors to take his dying mother off life support.

Steve called it the “hardest thing” he’s ever done in his life.

Steve said he understands that his mother is in heaven now watching over him.

“I just hope she’s seeing today, watching this moment right here,” Steve said. “I really, the only reason I straightened up, started doing right cause I just want to see her one day.”

Later in the segment, Steve mentioned how much Durancie’s words, during her appearance, meant to him.

“But you know what’s crazy, ma? You think I’m helping you, but you’re really helping me,” he said

Parents Thought Their Teen Had The Flu But It Turned Out To Be Rare Infection

A mother and a father recall the frightening medical situation that resulted in their healthy, active teenage boy having his limbs amputated to save his life.

Mothers and fathers want their children to have the opportunity to be kids to enjoy their childhood and adolescence. Parents want nothing more than for their children to be happy and healthy. If anything disrupts these two desires, parents can be devastated and left searching for answers.

Mathias Uribe was a happy, healthy and active 14-year-old boy who dreamt of becoming an engineer one day. Unfortunately, the young man’s health took a dramatic turn for the worse, seemingly out of the blue.

What was first thought to be the flu resulted in Mathias coming down with pneumonia, a rash and a redness all over his body. He was transported to the emergency room, where medical professionals found the young man suffering from a bacterial infection.

Once at the hospital, things went from bad to worse. His oxygen levels were a bit low, and he went into cardiac arrest.

Doctors, according to his father, Edgar Uribe, tried to raise and stabilize his vital signs. The 14-year-old was placed on life support. Doctors then told Mathias’ parents the worst possible news a parent could ever hear. The doctors working on their son said, “It was possible that Mathias might not make it that night.”

The only way to keep the young man alive, suffering from toxic shock syndrome, was to amputate his legs and hands. It was shocking to hear, to say the least.

However, Mathias’ parents are grateful to still have their son with them.

“He is a miracle,” Edgar said. “And we expressed that to him. I said, ‘We have to be grateful. You are alive. Mathias Uribe, you’re all here. Your heart, your mind, you are all here.’”

Isaiah 41:10 “Have no fear, for I am with you; do not be looking about in trouble, for I am your God; I will give you strength, yes, I will be your helper; yes, my true right hand will be your support.”

7-Year-Old Sings Super Mario Brothers Song During Talent Show And Everyone Goes Wild

One student performed a popular song from the recent Super Mario Bros. Movie during his school’s talent show, sending the crowd of young onlookers into a frenzy.

Each year and every year, Hollywood produces dozens of films directed at children, hoping to capture their attention and their parent’s money. Most of them are monetary disasters at the box office, failing to garner much interest from the youngsters. However, a select few movies every year do manage to catch a child’s attention and become massively profitable.

One of those films that succeeded in entertaining the little ones and getting plenty of money from the parents was “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The film, based on the beloved Super Mario Bros. video games, grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide, according to IMDB

In a clip posted on TikTok, a 7-year-old, dressed as Bowser (the film’s villain), sits at the piano and sings “Peaches.” That specific song was originally performed in the film by Bowser. All the children in the audience, fully aware of the tune and the movie, helped the young man out and sang with him.

The children sitting and taking in the performance even added a bit of choreography to their singing. Most of them even put their hands in the air around the same time, moving them around in a similar fashion. Their instant reaction to the young man’s performance is stunning and mesmerizing.

Today reports that the young man playing the piano and singing the song from the hit film did so for his little brother with autism. The 7-year-old’s little brother has issues communicating.

One day, the child with autism spontaneously began singing the Peaches song, surprising his mother and siblings. Moved by his little brother’s unexpected performance, the 7-year-old in the clip told his family he would do the song at the upcoming talent show for his young sibling.

Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”

Steve Harvey Tears Up Recalling How Kim Field’s Mom Saved His TV Show

Comedian and actor Steve Harvey mentions how one woman helped him during a low period in his career.

People have a tendency or a habit of looking at those individuals who appear on television shows or in movies as impervious to fears, failures or pain. But they are nothing more than people, like everyone else, standing and acting in front of a camera, reciting lines written for them.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Steve recalls a time in his life when he was having a crisis of confidence. As he mentions, his television show was on the verge of being canceled and taken off the air. He was afraid and didn’t know what to do or where to turn. But thankfully, Steve turned to someone who gave him advice and the confidence to get back out there.

The woman who helped Steve was the mother of The Facts of Life actress Kim Fields. Steve had Kim on to talk about her new book when he spotted Kim’s mother in the audience.

When Steve saw her, he immediately got out of his chair, walked off the stage and greeted Kim’s mother with a loving embrace. Both Steve and Kim’s mother had tears in their eyes.

Once Steve returns to the stage, he explains how she helped him.

“Let me tell you something,” Steve said. “I’m telling you right now, they was going to put me off TV. I ain’t know what I was doing. This woman sat with me for 12 hours and turned me into an actor overnight. I went back the next day and they decided to keep the show. I was done. That girl right there, she saved me. I was done. I was done.”

Everyone needs someone like that in their life. Someone who believes in us even when we don’t believe in ourselves. Those people can and do change lives every day.

Hebrews 13:6 “So that we say with a good heart, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will have no fear: what is man able to do to me?’”

‘Father’s Day’ At 53, Kirk Franklin Discovers Biological Father In Emotional Discovery

Grammy Award-winning Christian musician Kirk Franklin has finally found something he has been searching for his entire life: his biological father.

Parents are necessary for any and every child’s growth and development. Parents, as God intends, provide children with the required love, care, support, structure and discipline they need to survive and function in life.

However, like a band or in a church, where everyone has their part and role, so it is in a family. A mother can give a child certain things that a father cannot. On the other hand, a father can help meet a child’s emotional and psychological needs that a mother cannot. Remove one of those people from a child’s life, and they can experience several emotional, spiritual and psychological issues.

Singer Kirk Franklin, who was adopted as a child, understands this situation all too well. His entire life, the 53-year-old singer has searched for his biological father. In a documentary posted on Kirk’s official YouTube page, he finally learns that his father is a man who lives in the same city that he works in, only minutes from his studio.

Early in the clip, Kirk is on the phone with the doctor, who breaks the news to him. The man, Rick Hubbard, who submitted a DNA test on his own accord, is his father. The doctor tells Kirk there is a 99.99 percent probability of paternity.

Kirk is completely overwhelmed, unable to process the news he has been waiting to hear his entire life.

Later in the clip, near the 16-minute mark, Kirk meets the man who is his father. It’s understandably an emotional meeting.

In the video, Rick opens an envelope that Kirk hands him and is immediately overcome with emotion, burying his face in his hands and crying.

There are tears, hugs and apologies between the two men.

“He didn’t even know,” Kirk said. “He didn’t even know he had a son. And I didn’t even know I had a father. That close, I was that close. I was that close to having a daddy. I wanted a daddy so bad.”

Ephesians 6:4 “And, you fathers, do not make your children angry: but give them training in the teaching and fear of the Lord.”

Blind Bride Has Groom And Guests Use Blindfolds To Experience Her World

A bride with a physical disability came up with a unique way for her family, friends and the man she was marrying to experience a little bit of what she goes through on a daily basis.

Many people get stuck and set in their ways, refusing to change their opinions or even consider other thoughts or ideas on a number of topics. They see things from their perspective, and so that must be the only and correct way, many people believe. But, of course, that is an erroneous type of thinking.

A clip posted on YouTube shows that a blind woman, on her wedding day, wanted to show her future husband and those attending the ceremony what it’s like to be blind.

The video begins with the bride, dressed in her beautiful wedding dress, exiting the vehicle and arriving at the church. With help from her bridesmaids and a man presumed to be her father, the young woman makes her way to the church. As she does this, text appears in the video explaining what she asked her future husband and guests to do and why.

“I’m blind and I blindfolded my sighted husband and guests when I walked down the aisle… this is their reaction when they lived a moment in my shoes,” the text reads.

The video continues as the young woman reaches her future husband, who is blindfolded, as she requested. But then more text pops up, stating something beautiful, a special moment took place between her and her groom.

“Before Ollie took his blindfold off we had a moment for him to feel my dress so he could know why I chose it,” the text reads.

That’s a special moment they will remember for the rest of their lives. The video is also a reminder to be more empathic. Stop, consider and look at situations from the perspective of others. What does it feel and look like to be in their shoes? How would I react if in that position?
