A Little Girl's Last Wish for Her Daddy

On 9/26/13, 10 year old Nakeol Wells found out that her daddy's life was nearing the end after battling COPD for 5 years. Nakeol's heart was broken as she thought about how her daddy wouldn't be here to walk her down the aisle...something many little girls dream of. To help ease her broken heart, her family organized a ceremony where her dream could still come true while she still had him with her. In the ceremony, Nakeol promised her daddy that she would seek and wait for a godly man who would love her as much as her daddy loves her and who is worthy of her love and her daddy promised Nakeol that when she found that man, she would have his blessing.

The Call. From the Song of Solomon

Music from the band Subsidiarity. Lyrics are extracted from Song of Solomon 2: 8 - 13, a love song, but also much more:

The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, leaping upon the mountains, bounding over the hills.

My beloved is like a gazelle, or a young stag. Behold, there he stands behind our wall, gazing in at the windows, looking through the lattice.

My beloved speaks and says to me: "Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away;
for lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.

The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

The Daily Pulse (Sunday, October 6, 2013): When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:21-22 (NIV)

Word Transformation #16: Blight --> Light

The Daily Pulse (Saturday, October 5, 2013): In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 (NIV)

The Daily Pulse (Friday, October 4, 2013): “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it". Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)

"Beauty for Ashes" by Tisha Guzman

Every woman has a past, but in Christ every woman has a beautiful future. To look at her outside "beauty" one may think she's got it all together, but only she knows her true story. Hurt, fear, insecurity, abuse, sadness, loneliness, abandonment, doubt, mistrust, anxiety, worry and more have plagued her life, but Christ has given her "Beauty' in exchange for those ashes. "All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Word Transformation #12: Reader --> Leader

The Daily Pulse (Tuesday, October 1, 2013): Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:14-21 (NIV)
