This is the title song from Amy's latest Hymns & Faith album. The album is really a compilation of recordings from her previous Hymns albums; of the 15 songs, 13 of them were previously recorded. So, if you already have her other albums, there is not much new here, just two new songs. But, for those who do not have her previous albums, this is a wonderful collection of the best cuts (although they left off "Fields Of Plenty/Be Still My Soul", my favorite.) I bought it anyway even though I already have the other albums.
I looked all over trying to find out who wrote the song. All I could determine was that it was produced by Vince Gill. I have to assume that Vince wrote it, or perhaps co-wrote it with Amy. Anyone know?
And, no, this is not the song of the same name that was written by Steven Curtis Chapman. Same name, entirely different song. Both based on Psalm 46:10.
This song was orginally on a compilation album called "My Hope", a tribute to Billy Graham. The original hymn "Just As I Am" was written by Charlotte Elliott. Brenton Brown added a couple of new verses to the hymn, plus the chorus "Jesus Take All Of Me". The song was included on Amy's new album "Be Still And Know".
See the story of the little special needs girl, Ruthi, who we are adopting. She's shown us so much about love and joy and the true spirit of adoption. May she capture your hearts as she has ours
This song was originally on Amy's "Legacy" CD, and it is also on her new Hymns CD called "Be Still And Know". The heart of the song is the "river" one, but it also includes a verse of the old hymn "It Is Well With My Soul." As a side exercise you might want to Google the history of that hymn. Very interesting. "The River Keeps On Rollin'" was written by Amy's husband Vince Gill, and he also plays mandolin (he can play anything with strings, and play it well.)
(The album "Be Still And Know" is very nice as long as you don't already have Amy's other two Hymn albums, "Legacy" and "Rock Of Ages". Most of the songs on "Be Still And Know" are repeats from those two albums. There are only about five new songs. But, if you don't have both of those albums already, then this is a good one to get.)
